Short Biography
Kathleen Dineen wurde in der Nähe von Macroom in der Grafschaft Cork in Südirland geboren. Auf- gewachsen ist sie in einem von Poesie und Gesang geprägten Milieu. Sie hat am University College Cork Musik studiert. 1987 gewann sie den Arts Council of Ireland Bursary Award. Dieses Stipendium ermöglichte ihr das Studium mittelalterlicher Musik an der renommierten Schola Cantorum Basiliensis/Schweiz, wo sie inzwischen selber in der Mittelalterabteilung Gesang unterrichtet.
Kathleen ist Direktorin des A-cappella-Trios White Raven (www.whiteraven.info) in dem sie ihre zwei musikalischen Leidenschaften, den traditionellen und den mittelalterlichen Gesang mit großem Erfolg verbindet.
Kathleen also teaches at workshops for Stimmen Werkstadt Lörrach, Klangwelt Toggenburg and Musik Akademie Basel.

Erleben Sie die pure Magie der keltischen Volkslieder, wie sie in der gälischen, mündlichen Tradition vermittelt wurden und werden, wie im Folksong Geschichten und Poesie durch die Musik erzählt werden und wie man diese Spannung im monophonen und polyphonen Gesang bewahrt. Gerne können die Kursteilnehmer auch Instrumente mitbringen.
Workshop description
This workshop will be a journey in the art of learning by ear without any musical notation. Kathleen will be able to give individual attention to each participant. Special attention will be given to breathing, phrasing, pronunciation, ornamentation and the background of the songs in their traditional context. The participants will be guided by Kathleen to improvise harmonised versions of the songs. The participants will receive recordings of the songs and lyrics one week prior to the workshop.
